What a difference 2 Years makes...The Club once again supported the Methodist Church in taking part in Renfrewshire Council's Doors Open Day on the 7th September. Only this time the sun decided to throw some badly needed extreme ultraviolet radiation our way and Brian, MM1HMZ managed to work to work Jaye, VK2SD in Lake Macquarie, Newcastle, North of Sydney on Friday night (6th September) whilst setting up. The criticism of Brian's portable cobweb antenna being used in the tiny backcourt of the Church, surrounded by multi storey buildings were disproved. Brian did remind the Club members of the success of the antenna many times during the weekend.
The day of the event passed with very little on air activity due to the All Asian Contest taking place at the same time. 12 European Contacts on HF and DMR were still an increase over the last event.
200+ of the Renfrewshire Community visited the Church Halls on the day with an occasional one of those making their way into the Trinity Room with questions on Amateur Radio. One or two members of the public always manage to surprise us with their knowledge of the Hobby from time to time.
The station was supported by Jim GM0NAE, Brian MM1HMZ, Bob MM0XNC, Chris 2M0NZB, Eddie MM7YZX, Julie MM6LPT, Douglas MM7DCD, Foundation Trainee Oliver and Stuart MM0PAZ. Thanks also go to the hard suffering other halves and partners of the Club Members who allowed us out to play radio.
